Taxi is the easiest means of transport from the airport to the University. Take a RED taxi (don't take Green or Blue-coloured taxi, as they are restricted to travel in the New Territories and Lantau Island respectively) at the designated taxi stand of the airport directly to HKUST; the cost is normally below HK$400, and the travel time is about 45 minutes. Please note that the taxi driver will punch in the toll charges onto the meter and show you the exact total amount you need to pay. Tipping is not customary, you only need to round up to the next dollar. Taxis typically do not accept credit cards, so please have HK dollars in cash available.
Taxi drivers in Hong Kong may not communicate well in English. You might need to print one of these taxi driver instructions (written in Chinese), and show it to the taxi driver after boarding.

2. By Airport Express, MTR, Public Bus
There are other means of transportation from the airport to the University. They are less expensive, but less convenient and more time consuming.

3. From the Tseung Kwan O hotels to HKUST
If you are staying at Crowne Plaza or Holiday Inn Express at Tesung Kwan O for the seminars, or if you simply want to take the free shuttle bus that takes you directly to the conference venue from Tseung Kwan O MTR station (which is about 5 minutes walking distance to the lobby of Crowne Plaza hotel, where the shuttle bus will depart from).
The shuttle bus will be ready for boarding at 8:40AM, on ground floor outside the lobby of Crowne Plaza hotel, which is also adjacent to Holiday Inn Express (they share the same covered area). It departs at 8:55AM and service will be available on both days of the conference.
Please proceed to the lobby of Crowne Plaza hotel and our staff with the "APTS" sign will be there to assist you to the bus.
4. From HKUST to the Tseung Kwan O hotels
The shuttle bus departs next to the conference venue about 10 minutes after the end of the last conference session on both days.
If you would like to take a taxi back to the Tseung Kwan O hotels, you may download a copy of this turn-by-turn direction (in Chinese) and show it to the taxi driver.
A taxi from the University campus to Kowloon/Hong Kong costs HK$150-200 (approximately US$20-25). The nearest subway stations to the University are found at Hang Hau and Choi Hung. From Hang Hau, you can reach the University using buses 91M, mini-buses 11, 11M or 11S. From Choi Hung, you can reach the University using buses 91 or 91M, mini-buses 11 or11S. A taxi from Hang Hau to the University costs around HK$60 and from Choi Hung a taxi costs HK$90.
